Beacons Runners Compete at Emmanuel Saints Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – In a rare Friday meet men's and women's cross country competed the annual Emmanuel College Saints Invitational.  For the men's squad they posted a 9th place finish out of 16 teams, while the women's team recorded a 12th place finish out of 14 teams at Franklin Park.

Leading the men's squad at Friday's meet was Jake Kerin (Quincy, Mass.) and Tad Delaney (Halifax, Mass.) with a 19th and 23rd place finish respectively.  Kerin recorded a time of 28:09, while Delaney posted a time of 28:20. 

For the women's team it was once again Angelica Pizzi (Milton, Mass.) leading the way for the Beacons.  The sophomore runner posted a time of 21:36 to earn a 26th place finish overall.

Back on the men's side of the Saints Invitational, Joe Miller (Hull, Mass.) recorded a 101st place finish with his time of 32:07.  Behind him was Emilio Alvarez-Flores (Mexico City, Mexico) with a time of 33:27 (118th). Leon Jarvis crossed the finish line with a time of 34:22, which earned him 129th place overall.

Finally it was Alvarez Missick (Boston, Mass.) to close out the afternoon for the men's cross country team as he finished with a time of 41:30 (161st).

The women's team saw Ari Leao (New Bedford, Mass.) record a time of 22:59 to earn a 54th place finish overall.  Next to cross the finish line behind Leao was Renee O'Brien (Stoneham, Mass.) who posted a time of 26:10 (120th).  It was then Ashley Glendye (Middleboro, Mass.) who earned a 127th place finish on Friday with her time of 27:01.  Danny Valeri (Leominster, Mass.) recorded a time of 27:15, followed by Ashley Cahill (Spencer, Mass.) 33:24 as the duo closed out the afternoon for the Beacons.

The Beacons return on November 2 when they compete at the Little East Conference/New England Alliance Championship meet which will be hosted by the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, Maine.
